After enjoying beautiful nature in Yamaguchi that my parents took us, I really wanted to explore Minnesota nature. Luckily we still had a little bit of summer break left before school. I made a quick research about MN state parks and listed up all the parks I should visit before winter. Some take only a couple hours of drive but others take almost 4 hours. I needed to consider camping. North shore is very popular place to camp. I found only one site in whole north shore available on the day I picked. It was so fortunate that that was in this park! This park was not on my list but definitely one of the kind! Worth visiting! Temperance River Gorge is scary amazing!! There's a deepest crack in lava rock where you stand and river rapidly runs through it. And the only available site was cart-in site. I am usually lazy enough to book only drive-in, so I am glad to try it. Kids pulled and pushed the cart to carry stuff. It was so private and got completely dark. Shin made foil dinner for us. We loved everything!

Akiyoshido Cave
My parents and my sister took us to Akiyoshido Cave. It is the biggest cave in Japan. You can just walk inside without a guide. It is huge and blows your mind. Children also enjoyed the time with their cousins. Yuri's older cousin bought Yuri a matching necklace with her. She loves it and wears everyday now. My sister bought each of my kids a goodie which is a great reminder of this trip. Thank you!

My Hometown
When I grew up, I never cared but now I know that my hometown is beautiful. Truly remarkable place to be! My dad took children to beach, river and 10 different mountains. We could walk to the near mountain and the closest beach is only a minute away. I do hope my kids remember this beautiful summer we had here.

Hiroshima-Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto
Besides my hometown, we decided to make a short trip to Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo in the last minute. It was very short that we did mostly just one thing at a place. In Hiroshima, we took children to the Peace Museum. It was a heartaching experience to learn the pains all the victems went through because of atmic bomb. We pray for the peace on earth. Hiroshima is also known as Okonomiyaki. We needed to make a quick stop for that, too. To fly from Iwakuni to Osaka, we had four hour layover in Haneda. Shin really wanted to show kids where we got married and there was open house going in Tokyo temple. We didn't have right outfit but decided to stop by if that's okay. The new temple was beautiful and kids were able to go inside before waiting for years. We ate lunch where we went for a date 13 years ago. In Osaka, we went to Universal Studio Japan, where kids wanted to go so badly. They love Harry Potter and Mario Kart. It's their dream place! Harry Potter world was very well-made. I really enjoyed just being there. Kids could actually use magic with wand, too! That was super fun. However, the rides in USJ are crazy. I almost vomitted a few times. Kyoto and Osaka are just 45mins by train. After resting one day at hotel, we went to Osaka castle and Inari Fushimi Shrine in Kyoto in one day. Both pretty unique and so beautiful. I walked 23000 steps that day.

Japan Trip 2022
Finally we made it to Japan!! Last visit was four years ago. We bought the cheap tickets when Japan was still closed to the tourists and just hoped that they would open up when we go. I am so grateful that this worked out as a miracle. When we entered to Japan, we needed to have a covid test but no quarantine. When we go back to US, we didn't need to do covid test, which made us much easier to travel. We flew together in the end of May and Shin came home first after 3 weeks. Traveling back with four kids by myself was not as hard as I was afraid, though we didn't expect a crazy long line for Chicago custom. Waiting time was 2hrs! Kids have grown more than I noticed. They were so helpful and independent. Anyways, I am so grateful for this retreat! It was a wonderful trip!!

Family photo
Our friend, Lisa took photography classes and offered to take pictures of us!! She suggested to wear light color clothes. I didn’t have them so I just bought the same shirt for everyone. I am so happy it turned out so nicely! Big thanks to Lisa!

Merry Christmas 2021
We had a whole week of break before and after Christmas. The weather was nice that we enjoyed skating, sledding and walking. Asa loved it. He can skate now! For Christmas, I made sure that children get presents that they can work on. Asa got lego and build-car-toy. Daiki got bag making kit and a coding robot. He is pretty happy about his scripture bag that he made! Yuri also got a bag kit and crochet set. Ken got a kit to make a wallet and python learning class! I love that they got interested in new skills. Asa has been tirelessly building legos after Christmas. This year, instead of trying to hold Christmas concert on Christmas, I recorded every piece beforehand and made a Christmas concert video. Children sang a Primary song, Ken and Yuri each played a Christmas piano song, Daiki and Yuri sang a solo. I added pictures of 2021 to the video as well. I always wished my children to be singers. I loved how they sang. There's still a lot to improve so it is my new year resolution to keep singing with them. Every night for12 Days before Christmas, we picked a scripture and talked about the Savior's life. I really enjoyed it. I am going to prepare new 12 scriptures for next Christmas now...2021/11/27
DIY project 2021
We were looking for a four bedroom house but because we couldn't find it we decided to add one more bedroom by ourselves. We were not using the family room downstairs because it gets too cold. We changed drop-ceiling to drywall, wood panel wall to drywall and added closet, an entrance door and another doorway to shower room. It was kind of a big project. It took from mid-October to end of November, but we did it! We love how it turned out. The room got a lot warmer and everyone hangs out here now. Since got more DIY tools and skills, I am thinking of more projects to do in the future:)

Schools started
School has started. Kids will wear masks again. I will drive for them again. And Asa also started preschool! He cried a little bit in the first day but he was just fine when I left. He had lots of fun and was happy when he came home. The right down corner pic shows that Asa drew on wall we painted this summer...
