Halloween 2019

今年は全く何もしなかったハロウィン！日本語学校もあるし教会のハロウィンにも行けず、地域の催し物にも行かなかったので学校で仮装した大輝を除いてみんなコスチュームを着たのは一度だけ。コスチュームも何も工夫もなく家にあったのを着てハロウィンの夜にうちの周りにトリックオアトリートだけ行きました。４０分くらいだけでバケツいっぱいのキャンディをもらって帰ってきたよ！これをまた家庭の夕べのおやつにちょっとずつ食べていきます。近所のおまわりさんたちもグロースティックとお菓子をあげてまわっていたそうです。すごくいい近所に住んでいるなあ！と思いました。
I didn’t do anything special for Halloween this year. Just wore costumes that were already at home and went trick-or-treating around our neighborhood. But still kids loved it. Asa made a record of carrying heavy load and walking by himself for the longest distance. Police was driving by to giving out candies and glow sticks. We love our neighborhood.

Fort Snelling State Park

秋休みでした。特に何もするつもりはなかったんだけど、信ちゃんが休みを取ってくれて近場のホテルに泊まるというステイケーションをしました。その前にこの州立公園でお散歩、とりたてて何があるわけでもない公園なのですが、とってもいい天気で葉っぱも色づいていてかなりいい気持ちでした。
Daddy took off for day off for kids Fall break and took us to staycation. Before heading to the hotel  we stopped by this park. Unfortunately a part of park is flooded but the leaves are beautiful. Weather was perfect. It was so nice.

Fall 2019

秋が1番好きな季節です。残念ながらもうおしまいですが。この土曜日は雪が降りました。うちの木ももうほとんど葉を落としてしまいました。今日は秋休みだった子どもたちと一緒に落ち葉かきをして落ち葉の山に飛び込みました。恒例行事。子どもたちが落ち葉に身を埋めて写真を撮ってくれと言うので面白かったです。
I love fall. It’s so sad that fall is almost ending! We already had snow last Saturday. Our trees dropped most of all leaves. Today kids and I raked all the leaves and dove in. It’s so funny that they buried themselves and asked me to take pictures of them.

School has started.

レイバーデーの次の日から学校が始まりました。今年はけのは三年生、ゆりは一年生、大輝は朝三日のプリスクールに通います。現地校が始まるすぐ前の土曜日に、三人が通う日本語学校では運動会がありました。学校大好きみたいで楽しんでいます。夏の間、ゆりとけのは毎週ピアノを習っていましたが、とっても頑張ったのでこれからも隔週で続けることにしました。とても喜んでいます。
Our schools had started on the next day after Labor Day. Now K is 3rd grade, Y is 1st grade, D is pre-K in three morning class. Japanese school that they go had a sports day right before the local school started. So far they are doing great! During summer, K and Y took piano lesson every week. Because they did so well, we decided to continue taking lessons every other week. They are loving it! They love their piano teacher.

I-70 Scenic Drive

ザイオンからコロラドまで国道70号を通ったんですけど、その美しさに圧倒されました。デンバーまで８時間ほどずっと国立公園の中にいるかのようでした。写真では全然伝わらないのですが、本当に10分毎にまるで変わる新しい景色を楽しみました。特にコロラドが美しくて、いつかコロラドに遊びに来たいねと話し合いました。
From Zion to Colorado, we took I-70. We were surprised at the scenery all the way to Denver! We felt like we were in National Park for whole 8 hours. So many different scenery. We were surprised every ten minutes at changing views. We fell in love with Colorado. We would love to go back there and visit one day!

Zion National Park

両親を早朝に空港に送った後、そのまま南下してザイオン国立公園へ行きました。昔けのを妊娠中に行ったことがあるのですが、もはや何も覚えておらず、また行けて良かったです。結果としていっぱい公園行ったことある中でも一番の公園！と信ちゃんと同意しました。もう山に囲まれて圧倒的な景色でまさに息を飲み何も言えないほどです。この世にこんな場所があるの？！って感じです。広い公園の中にいろんな景色があって全然飽きません。ただ問題が、早朝に起こした子どもたちがすでに疲れ切っていたこと。。全く歩きたがらないのを無理矢理歩かせましたが、最終的にはとっても楽しんでいました！私たちは駐車スポットが見つからずトレイルを歩いてシャトルバスまで行く駐車場を利用。シャトルバスで終点まで行ってリバーサイドウォークトレイルという最も簡単と言われているトレイルを歩きました。その名の通り川が傍に流れていて、だいが歩きたくない！とただをこねる度に川へ降りて遊びました。焼け付く暑さに冷たい川の水がとっても気持ちよかったです。小さい頃川で遊んだことを思い出しました。
After we took parents to the airport early in the morning, we headed to Zion National Park. We have been there while I was pregnant with Ken but we didn’t remember anything. It was so nice to be able to visit again. We have been to many parks but we agreed that this is the best park of all. The scenery is breathtaking. The Park has so many different faces to attract us. The problem was our kids were too tired from all the traveling. They didn’t really want to walk.. but at the end they had so much fun. We took the shuttle all the way to the end to go to Riverside Walk Trail. The easiest trail it said. It goes along with river. Whenever D didn’t want to walk, we’d come down to the river and play. With over heated dry weather, the cold river water was really a nice treat. I remembered the day I used to play in the river like that when I was a child.

This Is the Place

ユタには二日ほど滞在しました。まずはプロボ付近まで南下して大切な人たちのお墓詣りをしました。それからBYUをちらりと見ました。ちょうど教育週間で人で溢れかえっていました。それからソルトレイク神殿に参入してテンプルスクエアを廻りました。感動したのが、カンファレンスセンターの屋上庭園。最初全部雑草が生えてると思い聞いてみると、開拓者の通った平原に生えている野生の植物を植えて開拓者の見た景色を再現しているということでした！ここにあるすべては開拓者の信仰を礎に建っているんだなとまた実感しました。ところで私たちがユタを出てから7年くらいの間に驚くほど発展しています。次の日はわたしは疲れ果ててしまったので信ちゃんがみんなを連れてエンザインピークに登り、歴代大管長のお墓を見たりテンプルスクエアを見たりしました。夜は家族の集まりがあり、おじさんが両親を近くの富士山より高い山に連れて行ってくれました。すごい景色でしたが、ちょっと山肌を沿う細い道のドライブはスリル満点でした。おじさんはよく家から山のてっぺんまで走って登るそうでただただ驚きました。両親が来てくれて本当に楽しい旅になりました。子どもたちは夜は両親の部屋で寝て良い思い出ができたようです。また一緒に旅行ができたらいいね。
We had two days to see the Salt Lake City and around. We went down to see the graves of our loved ones at first and stopped by BYU. Went to Salt Lake Temple and took a tour at Temple Square. We were so touched by the scenery of conference center roof top. I thought it was weed and I asked. The guide told me that they were wild plants that pioneers saw while they were passing the prairie. The pioneers’ faith built this great city. While we were there, we saw many improvements since we left. The city has grown so much. The next day Shin took everyone to Ensgin Peek to climb and visit past prophets’ grave site. In the evening, we had family gathering. Uncle Jerry took my parents to the Canyon to see the great view. It was a quite drive but he surprised us by telling he often runs all the way to the top. It was so nice to be able to travel with my parents. Children slept in their room and really enjoyed time with them. Hope we can travel with them again.

Mormon Trail 2

チムニーロックからそう遠くないところにインディペンデンスロックもあります。ここは子どもたちが1番楽しんだようで、大きな石の上を好きに登れます。てっぺんには開拓者達の名前が彫ってあるそうですが、ちょっとアサヒを連れて登るには危なかったので女子は待機してました。だいきはスルスルと登ってとっても楽しかった様子。次のストップはマーティンズコーブでした。ここは手車隊が吹雪に遭い立ち往生して多くが亡くなった後、ソルトレイクシティからの救助隊に発見された場所です。その過酷さを感じないほど美しい場所でしたが。ここでは実際に手車を押してみることができます。当時の人の証を読むと彼らが苦難の中で信仰が精錬されたこと、そして自らの証でそれを読む私たちの証をも強めたいと望んでいたことがわかります。そこからさらに５時間運転してソルトレイクシティに着きました。ほとんどロッキー山脈の中を行く美しいけれど過酷な道のりだったと思います。そしてブリガムヤングが初めに辿り着いてユタの盆地を見渡し、ここがその地であると言ったと言われる公園へ行きました。道中たくさんの土地が溢れていましたが、主がそう示されるまで、預言者がそれを伝えるまで、開拓者たちは歩き続けました。
After not too long drive, there’s Independence Rock. My children say this was the most fun stop during this road trip. It is the huge rock you can climb. On the top of the rock there’s monument curved by many pioneers. I was scared to go up with Asa, so girls and baby stayed on the ground. Daiki swiftly went up. He loved it. And, Martin’s Cove. It is the place where Handcart company faced difficulties and after so many died they stayed and waited. The rescue came from Salt Lake and found them there. We were able to push handcart. We read from their testimony that through their trial, they are strengthened and they hoped to strengthen our faith as we read them. After that stop, there was still 5 hours of drive left to Salt Lake City even we took a shortcut. That was a beautiful scenery way but looked very difficult to walk because of going up to the mountains. Finally we arrived at This Is the Place Park. After first trip of Brigham Young, he stopped there and said “This is the place”. So it is the trail led by the Lord. There was all the empty land along the way but they didn’t stop until the Lord told the prophet where they should be.

Mormon Trail 1

土曜日にモルモントレイルへ出発しました。モルモントレイルは末日聖徒の開拓者がノーブーからユタへ辿った道を示した文化遺産的なものだと思うんですけど、政府がパンフレットを作っていて道中手に入ります。開拓者たちはノースプラット川に沿って旅し、最終的にはロッキー山脈も超える長い旅になっています。わたしたちはミネソタから出発したのでアイオワ州から辿りました。始めのストップはケインズビルにある訪問者センターです。ここはブリガムヤングが2代目の大管長に召されたところです。ノーブーからここまでは徒歩四週間の道のりですが、迫害のために冬場に出発したため道がぬかるんでおり四カ月もかかってたどり着きました。ウィンタークォーターズには神殿とお墓、開拓者の旅の全貌がある訪問者センターがあります。開拓者の払ったたくさんの犠牲とそれにつけてもなお主を仰ぎ見て喜んだ聖徒たちを思うと胸が熱くなります。次の日にはチムニーロックという変わった形の岩にも行きました。ここには政府の施設があり、有料ですが長い歴史や科学的なことを記した訪問者センターがあります。教会の開拓者は大勢で通りましたが、それ以外にもゴールドラッシュで西へと向かったたくさんの家族達がいました。
We started Mormon trail on Saturday. We followed the part of pioneer’s footsteps. It goes along with North Platte River. They went up to Rocky Mountains eventually. First stop was Kainsville, where Brigham Young was called to be a second president of the church. From Nauvoo to Iowa takes four weeks by walk. They left Nauvoo earlier than they expected because of persecution. The ground was muddy and it took four months for them to arrive there. They needed more food for them to go on the journey. Winterquaters was 20mins away. That visitor center always makes me cry. It is the place to think of pioneer’s sacrifice. They had many hardships but they sang “All is well”. The next day, we stopped by Chimny Rock. This visitor center is run by the government. There were other pioneers crossing besides church members for Goldrush.

My Parents’ Visit

両親が遊びに来てくれました。でもちょうど出発の日が台風直撃だったので、どうなることかと祈り続けていたのですが、朝乗るはずだった便が欠航になってしまい、両親はなんと15時間の運転で羽田の便に間に合うべく車で向かいました。で、無事に来れたのですが、祈りと信仰について深く学びました。ミネソタには2日しかいなかったのですが、湖やミネハハの滝に連れて行きました。忘れてならないのが、お土産をたくさん持ってきてくれました。四つのラゲージのうち三つは私たち用でした！
My parents came to visit us! We were looking forward to this for a long time. However, typhoon hit their town on the day they were supposed to leave. The flights were cancelled. We had many prayers and they decided to drive all the way to Tokyo, which is 15 hour drive. They drove all night and caught the next flight. I learned a lot about faith and prayer from this experience. They had only a few days here in Minnesota. We took them to the lake and Minnehaha falls. Oh, and they brought so much souvenirs. They had four luggage and three of them were just for us!
