This Is the Place

ユタには二日ほど滞在しました。まずはプロボ付近まで南下して大切な人たちのお墓詣りをしました。それからBYUをちらりと見ました。ちょうど教育週間で人で溢れかえっていました。それからソルトレイク神殿に参入してテンプルスクエアを廻りました。感動したのが、カンファレンスセンターの屋上庭園。最初全部雑草が生えてると思い聞いてみると、開拓者の通った平原に生えている野生の植物を植えて開拓者の見た景色を再現しているということでした！ここにあるすべては開拓者の信仰を礎に建っているんだなとまた実感しました。ところで私たちがユタを出てから7年くらいの間に驚くほど発展しています。次の日はわたしは疲れ果ててしまったので信ちゃんがみんなを連れてエンザインピークに登り、歴代大管長のお墓を見たりテンプルスクエアを見たりしました。夜は家族の集まりがあり、おじさんが両親を近くの富士山より高い山に連れて行ってくれました。すごい景色でしたが、ちょっと山肌を沿う細い道のドライブはスリル満点でした。おじさんはよく家から山のてっぺんまで走って登るそうでただただ驚きました。両親が来てくれて本当に楽しい旅になりました。子どもたちは夜は両親の部屋で寝て良い思い出ができたようです。また一緒に旅行ができたらいいね。
We had two days to see the Salt Lake City and around. We went down to see the graves of our loved ones at first and stopped by BYU. Went to Salt Lake Temple and took a tour at Temple Square. We were so touched by the scenery of conference center roof top. I thought it was weed and I asked. The guide told me that they were wild plants that pioneers saw while they were passing the prairie. The pioneers’ faith built this great city. While we were there, we saw many improvements since we left. The city has grown so much. The next day Shin took everyone to Ensgin Peek to climb and visit past prophets’ grave site. In the evening, we had family gathering. Uncle Jerry took my parents to the Canyon to see the great view. It was a quite drive but he surprised us by telling he often runs all the way to the top. It was so nice to be able to travel with my parents. Children slept in their room and really enjoyed time with them. Hope we can travel with them again.
