Flying to Minnesota

５月14日、ニューハンプシャーから帰ってきてすぐアパートを引き払って空港へ。コネチカットのハートフォードからメリーランドのバルティモア経由でミネソタミネアポリスに着きました。だいにとっては始めてのフライトで、この子がまたとんでもなく暴れる子なのでドキドキしていましたが、なんとか終わってほっとしました。航空券は４つ買ったものの、大人は二人で引っ越しの荷物が着くまでの必需品貴重品を運ぶために預ける荷物５つ（とはいえ大１つ、小２つ、手持ちでもOKくらいの袋２つ）にカーシート２つ、ブースターシート１つ、さらにダブルストローラーも押さなくてはならないので実質１人でそれらを運ばないといけないわけで、もうチェックインまでと荷物の引き取り後がてんやわんやでした。もうしばらく（というかできることなら二度と！そういうわけにもいかないけれど）飛行機乗りたくない！！！！と再認識しました。みんな、がんばった！！
You may remember we have always driven to move til this time. We crossed the country by driving in total. This time, we decided to take flight. Dai's first flight. He is not a quiet kid in public. I was afraid of him making scenes, well, he did a little but not as much as I was concerned. Anyways, I'm glad that it's over!!! We had 5 luggage and 3 car seats to check in, and double stroller to bring with heavy toddlers. We WERE handful. Arrived at hotel around midnight, super tired. Ken was awake and very  helpful all the time. Everyone did great job!

Franconia Notch State Park

両親と別れて家に戻るとすぐパッキングして次の日には引っ越し業者が来てそれ以外の荷物を持って行き、家は空っぽになりました。車もなくなったので信ちゃんが空港からレンタカーをして残りの一日はずっと行ってみたかったホワイトマウンテンに行ってきました。ニューイングランドで一番高い山なみでいろんなものがあるのだけど、その中のフランコニア州立公園にきれいな滝があるということで、滝が大好きなので行ってきました。よく整備されているのでストローラーでも歩けると言われて、全く歩こうとしない二人の子がいるのでダブルストローラーで行ったのですが、実は前半はとても急な階段の連続で、ギリギリの幅を二人で抱えなくてはならず、とっても怖い目にあいました。でも、その価値があるほど素晴らしい思い出になりました。滝は写真では伝えられないほど美しく雄大で圧倒されました。ニューイングランド、あんまり旅行できなかったけど、一番行ってよかった！と思えるスポットだと思いました。
After we got back home from New York, we packed up our luggage and moving company took everything else the very next day. Shin rented a car from airport we were flying on Saturday and took us to New Hampshire because I really wanted to visit White Mountains before we leave. As you can see we didn't have much time, so just hiked The Flume in Franconia Notch State Park. There's a huge waterfall. We were told that we could use stroller, so we used double stroller to fit these two unfriendly walkers. Along with the waterfall goes narrow stairs. We didn't know how long to go up, so we lifted first stairs and that's the end we couldn't go back any more. We just have to keep carrying our double stroller to the very top. It was a quite accomplishment!! I have to say it was scary but worth doing it!! The waterfall was amazing and most beautiful thing!! I'm so glad that we made it!!

Travel with Parents

せっかくシンガポールから両親が来てくれたので、この辺りの教会初期の歴史サイトを廻りました。バーモントのジョセフスミスの生誕地、パルマイラのクモラの丘と聖なる森とモルモン書印刷サイト、協会が設立されたニューヨーク州フェイエット、モルモン書が翻訳されて神権が回復されたペンシルベニア州ハーモニーに行けました。ギュウギュウに詰め込んだので時間が十分になかったのが残念ですが、両親はとても喜んでくれて親の敵のように写真を撮りまくっていて、来れてよかったな〜と思いました。ゆりとだいは小さすぎて暴れてましたが、けのくらいになると割と理解していました。訪問者センターもとてもよくできていて、子どもたちがもうちょっと大きくなってから来たらもっと楽しめそうと思いました。両親はニューヨークの空港から帰るのでダウンタウンで別れたのですが、子どもたちは両親と一緒のホテルの部屋で寝たりしたのも楽しかったようです。ところでいつもニューヨークから帰る交通渋滞に辟易していたのですが、ここにきていい道を発見して気持ちよく帰ることができました。
Since Shin's parents came all the way from Singapore, we decided to take them to church historical site around this area. We visited Joseph Smith birth place Sharon VA, Hill Cumorah, Sacred Grove and Book of Mormon printing site in Palmyra NY, Peter Whitmer farm (where church was started) Fayette NY and Susquehanna River Harmony PA. We departed in downtown NY. We were happy to see parents super excited at these places. Each historical site was well organized and fun place for children (maybe older than 5). Wish we had more time that we wouldn't have to rush parents.

信ちゃんが卒業しました☆博士論文発表会を４月２９日にしたので実際に卒業したことになるのは９月なのですが、もう引っ越すので両親も来てくれて今年卒業式に出たのです。博士論文発表会にはわたしも出席したのですが、たくさんの人が来てくれてとてもすばらしかったです。誇らしく思いました。卒業式は朝の８時半からで、朝７時からスタンバイしてました。騒ぐ子どもたちと一緒でなかなか落ち着きませんでしたが、信ちゃんの名前が呼ばれた時には子どもたちと“ダディー！！”と叫びました。（正確にはほとんどマミー１人で）７年間の学生生活、振り返ってみると本当に祝福されていて、終わった！というよりは学生生活を送らせていただいたな〜という気持ちになりました。信ちゃん、がんばったね、おめでとう！！
Shin walked graduation commencement. He did his defense on April 29. So technically he graduates in September. We are moving to Minnesota so he walked this time. He did excellent job at his defense. Many people came to cheer him up. I'm so proud of him!! Graduation ceremony started at 8:30 in the morning. When his name was called, we shouted saying "DADDY!!!" As I look back this 7 years of his schooling, I feel so blessed. I'm grateful to have this experience with him. He has been a wonderful hardworking husband. I'm grateful for his professor who has been so understanding and extremely nice to him. As we were praying before his BA graduation, to know where he should go, the answer we got was the best answer. We'll be eternally grateful.

End of school ceremony

けのとゆりは信ちゃんの大学にあるプリスクールに行っていたのですが、もう学年末ということで、手作りな卒業式を先生たちがしてくれて、行ってきました。両親もシンガポールから着いた日で、一緒に。みんなで作った詩を読んでくれて、親が手をつないで作ったトンネルの中を子どもたちが駆け抜けて、プリスクールが今年最後の子たちは卒業証書をもらいました。とてもいい学校生活が送れて、よかったな〜と思いました。先生たちありがとう！！
Ken and Yuri's preschool ended. It runs by Shin's university, so school schedule follows university's. Ken is going to kindergarten this fall. Teacher gave him preschool diploma. Parents made hand tunnel and children ran through it, well except Ken. He walked with smile and waved to me. Anyway it was too cute! I'm amazed how much he grew. Now he can read and write some English words. I didn't teach him at all. Hands down for preschool teachers who did it!

Martha's Vineyard & Plymouth MA.

もうあと２ヶ月しかない！ということでなんとなくマサチューセッツらしいところを見に行くことに。お友達が教えてくれるまで知りもしなかったマーサズビンヤードという島に行ってきました。オバマ大統領も夏になるとここでバケーションをするそうな。初期のピルグリムがやってきてクジラ漁で栄えた港ときれいなビーチ、そしてジンジャーブレッドコテージというかわいい家が有名です。このコテージはメソジスト派の人たちがカンファレンスするときに泊まるために作ったのだそう。けのの家？というくらい天井が低いです。昔の人は小さかったんだね、としみじみ。家大好きなので盛り上がって写真撮りすぎてしまいました。（あ、写真がありすぎて同じ家を載せてしまっている！）そしてピルグリムが初上陸したときに一歩目を載せたと言われるプリムスロックも見てきました。メイフラワー号も見たかったけどシーズンオフで見れず。でも満足！
We have only two months left in Massachusetts. We decided to spend our spring break in the historic site. I absolutely loved beautiful beach and gingerbread cottage in Martha's Vineyard. It is still out of season, so not many people were around. We took advantage of it. Bus is like our private taxi! Driver was very nice and waited our restroom break and photo trip. We also stopped by famous Plymouth Rock. It was a nice opportunity to teach kids about freedom. We LOVE Massachusetts:)

Saturday fun

昨日けのがダディと二人でスケートに行ったので、今日はゆりがダディとデートで辛いインド料理の食べ放題に行きました。その後みんなでコネチカットにあるイェール大学へ。無料の美術館がすごい！ゴッホとかあってね、近代美術もおもしろくっていい時間を過ごしました。ただ、久しぶりに行ったけど美術館に行くのってこんなに疲れるんだっけ？！芸術について考えて、子どもに気を配って、と神経を使いました。そしてイェールの寮がハリーポッター！？の城のような門構えでタイムスリップしたような不思議な感覚を味わいました〜

Ken went skating with daddy yesterday. To make up with Yuri, daddy took her to spicy Indian buffet. They had a great time. After that, we went to Hartford CT for Yale Museum of Art. It's free but there's so much to see! Famous paintings and modern art that I've never thought of. I enjoyed a lot, but I found myself exhausted after a while with watching art and my kids. Buildings of Yale are so like Hogwarts. I felt like I'm in a movie or something. It was a good day!

Spring

春です♪下の子たちを公園に。楽しく遊んでいました。もう冬のコートも必要なさそう！最近だいは一人でどんどん高いすべり台にのぼって滑り降ります。エンドレス。見ている方はひやひやします。
It's bee very nice these days. We don't need coats any more! I took little two to playground. They were so happy!

Boston Winter Retreat

パスポート更新にボストンに行くついでにみんなでホテルに一泊してきました。お昼は牛角でお得ランチ！子どもたちもみんなちゃんと食べていて、よかったです。そしてボストン自体にはあまり興味のないわたしたちはディナーにこれまたお値打ち中華をテイクアウトしてすぐホテルへ。すっごく素敵なホテルで気持ちよく過ごせました。子どもたちもみんなプールに入って、成長したなあと思いました。今年の夏はみんなでプールに行けるな〜楽しくって充電できました。信ちゃんありがとう！！
I had to go to Boston to pick up my new passport. I hate to drive in Boston so Shin helped me out and he made this our winter retreat like last year. I loved it. We went to a good Japanese BBQ place for lunch. Kids ate a lot which made me satisfied even more. Dinner was bought in Chinatown Cafe. We highly recommend this place! Awesome. And hotel! We had a blast. Yuri tried going in hotel pool for the first time. She has grown so much.

Happy Valentine's Day

バレンタイン♡子どもたちにはパズルをあげました。ていうかゆりが一つのパズルを繰り返しやり続けるので新しいの買ってあげる口実がほしかった。さっそくもう今朝あげてから３回しました。信ちゃんからはあのチョコをもらいました♡信ちゃんが別のチョコをくれたので、これでしょう！と思い出させてあげたんですけどね。これ一晩で食べきれるくらい食べやすいチョコ。けのとゆりはバレンタインカードを作りました。ゆりにはダディーのアルファベットを切ってあげたんだけど、全部一箇所に貼ったよね。。。けのは「まみ、学校にいくときごはんつくってくれてありがとう」と書いてくれて、まみ、涙！！弁当作っててよかったな！！
Whitman's. I love that chocolate. He bought something else at first and I said, "I believe you bought the wrong chocolate by mistake." I can finish Whitman's whole box one night. (I'm not saying I did.) Yuri and Ken made valentine cards. I gave Yuri alphabets; DAD♡YURI, then she put everything on one spot. Ken is so sweet to say, "Thank you mommy for making lunchbox when I go to preschool!" I gave kids puzzle. I know they both got puzzle on their birthday but Yuri does that puzzle over and over and made me want to give her another one. She already did three times since this morning.
